We have to say, this one was a hard pack to pull together. Mostly because we kept drinking all of the cellar reserve cabernets ourselves, or couldn’t keep them in stock long enough to bring a pack together.

Why do we love this case?

The point is mofo, we got there. We all know aged cabernet can be one of those unicorns, hard to find, but priceless when you do. Our producers have done the cellaring for you, so now all that’s left to do is crack these babies open (although we suggest giving them some airing time before diving in).

1x Reschke Armenta Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Cabernet quite seriously doesn't get much better than this. The best of the best barrels are selected for this top-tier release, which speaks to the depth and complexity that meets you in every glass. Rich notes of roasted coffee and cocoa meet you on the nose, with a whopping lick of baking spices and clove in tandem. We were, quite frankly, gobsmacked to get our hands on this cab straight from the cellar of this iconic Coonawarra producer, and we're confident you'll feel just the same.

You'd pay $150 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Aged Cabernet Sauvignon develops extraordinary complexity through extended cellaring, transforming primary fruit flavours into sophisticated secondary and tertiary characteristics. The tannins soften and integrate beautifully, while flavours like leather, cocoa, and coffee emerge alongside the classic blackcurrant and plum notes. These producers have done the patient work of proper cellaring, allowing each wine to reach its optimal drinking window where power meets elegance.

Absolutely - aged Cabernet Sauvignon benefits tremendously from aeration to unlock its full potential. Decanting 2-4 hours before serving allows the complex aromatics to open up and any sediment to settle, particularly important for wines of this maturity. The leather, allspice, and coffee notes will become more pronounced, while the full-bodied structure will show greater harmony between fruit, tannins, and oak integration.

The rich, full-bodied profile with notes of blackberry, cocoa, and leather makes these wines perfect companions for robust dishes like aged beef, lamb shanks, or game meats. The developed tannin structure can handle rich sauces and strong cheeses, while the coffee and liquorice notes complement dishes with earthy mushrooms or dark chocolate desserts. These mature wines have the complexity to elevate special occasion dining.

This trio showcases how terroir influences Cabernet Sauvignon expression across different wine regions, from Australian intensity to French elegance. Each region's climate, soil, and winemaking traditions contribute unique characteristics - whether it's the concentrated fruit power of warmer climates or the refined structure of cooler regions. The variety in this collection demonstrates Cabernet's remarkable ability to reflect its origin while maintaining its noble varietal character.

With scores reaching 97 points from prestigious competitions like the Decanter World Wine Awards and consistent high ratings across multiple platforms, these wines represent exceptional quality in aged Cabernet. The combination of professional critic scores, international competition medals, and strong consumer ratings on Vivino indicates wines that have proven their worth through both expert assessment and public appreciation. Such recognition typically reflects outstanding winemaking, optimal vintage conditions, and proper cellaring.
