Red — Pinot Noir

Burgundy — France

Red cherry, raspberry and a touch of wild strawberry sit at the core, bright and gently perfumed. A subtle earthy note adds savoury depth without overshadowing the fruit. The tannins are fine and lightly supportive, giving shape without weight. Fresh acidity keeps everything lifted and balanced. Light on its feet but full of nuance, it is a reminder of how charming good Bourgogne Pinot can be.

2x Warramunda Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2024

Red — Pinot Noir

Yarra Valley — Australia

When it comes to pinot noir, the Yarra Valley is at its best when its producing generous, sophisticated, juicy, reds. Lucky for all involved, Warramunda are very much in the business of producing generous, sophisticated, juicy pinots...
This single-vineyard site sits on the north-facing slopes of Coldstream, Yarra Valley, with 80% whole berries and 20% whole bunches, there's something exhilarating about this wine... A gorgeous bright ruby and crushed raspberry colour in the glass. Little flecks of blue and purple weave throughout. There is a crushed fruit aroma of raspberries and strawberries which feels very lively and close to the source. Energy and zeal in the glass. Plush and vibrant with well-integrated oak and a structure that will allow for aging, should the cellar beckon. This is brilliant small batch production from a certified Yarra icon - Warramunda.

You'd pay $80 full price.

2x Austin's Wines 6ft6 Pinot Noir 2024

Red — Pinot Noir

Geelong — Australia

Geelong is, for me, the best pinot noir producing region outside of Burgundy. Not the USA's Oregon, not New Zealand's Central Otago - little old Geelong on Victoria's south coast.
Fresh and inviting, this will give a lot with just a little swirl in the glass. Raspberry coulis, winter strawberry, some sweet spice, fennel, thistle. The complexity far outpaces its price tag. The wine is structured without sacrificing finesse, which means it's pretty without being thin or wussy. This is dangerous value at $15 and worth stocking up because we don't anticipate we'll be able to hang onto it too for long.

You'd pay $45 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gevrey-Chambertin represents one of Burgundy's most prestigious appellations, where Pinot Noir achieves remarkable depth and complexity from ancient limestone soils. The Marie Andre 2021 showcases the classic power and mineral precision that makes this region legendary, with concentrated red fruit flavours balanced by earthy undertones and silky tannins. This benchmark Burgundy demonstrates why Gevrey-Chambertin commands such respect among wine lovers, offering the perfect reference point for understanding how terroir shapes Pinot Noir's expression.

The French wines showcase classic Burgundian restraint with earthy minerality, structured tannins, and subtle fruit that unfolds slowly in the glass. In contrast, the Australian expressions from Warramunda Estate and Austin's Wines display the vibrant, fruit-forward character typical of cool-climate Australian Pinot Noir, with brighter acidity and more immediate cherry and berry flavours. This comparison highlights how climate, soil, and winemaking philosophy create distinctly different personalities from the same grape variety, making each bottle a lesson in regional expression.

The collection's range of styles opens up exciting pairing possibilities across multiple courses. The structured Gevrey-Chambertin pairs beautifully with duck confit or aged cheeses, while the fresher Australian expressions complement salmon, mushroom risotto, or roasted chicken with herbs. The earthy, spicy notes throughout the collection make these wines natural partners for game birds, pork tenderloin, or even vegetarian dishes featuring roasted root vegetables and thyme.

The vintage variation demonstrates how Pinot Noir evolves with age and responds to different growing conditions. The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin has had time to develop secondary flavours and integrate its tannins, showing the grape's aging potential, while the 2024 wines capture the variety's youthful vibrancy and primary fruit character. This contrast allows you to experience Pinot Noir at different stages of development, from exuberant youth to emerging maturity, providing insight into how this noble grape transforms over time.

The collection spans Pinot Noir's remarkable flavour spectrum, from bright red cherry and strawberry notes in the younger wines to deeper sour cherry and raspberry complexity in the Burgundies. Earthy undertones and spice elements weave through each bottle, with some showing more mineral-driven characteristics and others displaying rhubarb-like tartness. This diversity showcases Pinot Noir's chameleon-like ability to express different facets while maintaining its elegant, medium-bodied structure and signature silky texture.
