Why do we love this case?

Bordeaux is the benchmark for fine wine, and this collection shows exactly why. Bringing together standout expressions from both the Left and Right Bank, this lineup delivers a masterclass in balance, structure, and regional character.

From the refined power and prestige of Margaux and Haut-Médoc, to the plush, Merlot-driven charm of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, each wine reflects the pedigree and precision that defines this iconic region. The Saint-Émilion Grand Cru classification signals wines of true distinction - layered, expressive, and built to impress both now and with time in the cellar.

Whether you’re drawn to the structure of Cabernet-led blends or the richness and approachability of Merlot-dominant styles, this case offers the best of both worlds - classic Bordeaux, done properly.

1x Château Mongravey Margaux 2018

This Bordeaux, hailing from the Margaux appellation, is a cab-merlot blend with a touch of cab franc and a whole lotta charm. With a massive 97 points from DWWA, it’s an awesome expression of the area and anyone who loves Margaux will love this.

This wine is fresh and elegant, with the right amount of tannin soaking up delicious plum fruit. It’ll please ’em all.

1x Château Malescasse Haut-Médoc 2020

Red — Merlot Blend

Bordeaux — France

This is Haut-Médoc doing what it does best - calm, confident and quietly impressive. From the first swirl it's clear that you're dealing with a pretty special wine. Everything is smooth, concentrated and deeply inviting, no sharp edges, no rush, just quality and drinkability. It smells like a wine that knows it’s got pedigree, cassis, plum and blackcurrant are overt but don't dominate the wine. The palate backs it up with ease. Refined currant fruit sits at the core, wrapped in cedary notes and carried by tannins that are perfectly pitched and beautifully behaved. Oak plays a supporting role only - subtle, integrated, and stretching the finish rather than stealing the spotlight. It’s powerful without flexing, structured without being stiff, and elegant the whole way through. Drinking well now if you’re impatient, but built to cruise comfortably in the cellar if you’ve got the discipline. A proper class act from a standout vintage - one for lovers of serious Bordeaux that still remember it’s actually meant to be enjoyable.

You'd pay $140 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This trio showcases the fundamental divide in Bordeaux winemaking - Left Bank versus Right Bank styles. The Margaux and Haut-Médoc represent the structured, Cabernet Sauvignon-driven approach of the Left Bank, while the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru demonstrates the softer, Merlot-focused character of the Right Bank. Together, they provide a complete education in Bordeaux's diverse terroir and winemaking philosophies in one collection.

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru represents the top tier of this prestigious Right Bank appellation, with strict quality controls and regular re-evaluation of producers. Unlike the static Left Bank classifications, Saint-Émilion reviews its Grand Cru status every decade, ensuring only the finest estates maintain this coveted designation. This classification guarantees exceptional vineyard sites, lower yields, and extended ageing requirements that elevate the wine's complexity and cellar potential.

The Margaux delivers classic Left Bank elegance with blackcurrant and herbaceous notes, supported by fine tannins and mineral precision. The Haut-Médoc offers more immediate power with coffee and earthy undertones, while the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru provides Right Bank richness through plum and black cherry flavours with warming allspice. This progression from structured to opulent showcases Bordeaux's remarkable stylistic range within a single region.

While these wines are approachable now, their true potential emerges with proper cellaring. The 2018 Margaux is entering its drinking window with 5-15 years ahead, while the 2020 vintages from Haut-Médoc and Saint-Émilion benefit from 2-3 years additional bottle age to fully integrate their tannins. The Saint-Émilion's Merlot base makes it the most accessible young, while the Cabernet-driven Left Bank wines reward patience with increased complexity and elegance.

These estates exemplify Bordeaux's mastery of blending, terroir expression, and age-worthy structure that has influenced winemaking globally. The impressive ratings - including 97 points from both Decanter and DWWA - demonstrate the consistent quality that makes Bordeaux the reference point for premium red wine. Each bottle represents centuries of viticultural refinement, from Margaux's aristocratic finesse to Saint-Émilion's historic winemaking traditions, proving why Bordeaux remains the gold standard for collectors and connoisseurs worldwide.
