When people talk about a wine being in its 'perfect drinking window', this is what they mean. Holding on to is fruit, acid and tannin whilst softening at the edges and allowing for those much-sought-after tertiary developments: tobacco, leather, cassis and smooth silky texture. Chuck in some fine-grained yet enduring tannins and you're French wine heaven.

Why do we love this wine?

Left bank Bordeaux is some of the best wine in the world. That's no overstatement, and we doubt anyone would dispute this fact. The problem with these wines is that they need time to settle into themselves and really show their true colours, also, they're usually very, very, very expensive. You guessed it, that's where we come in! We've done the aging for you, this wasn't a forgotten about wine that's been sitting in the back of a truck for 10 years - this is carefully, professionally aged Bordeaux, we've even taken care of the price for you. All you have to do is pop the cork and let yourself be transported to the old world.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine has been professionally aged for you, eliminating the typical 8-10 year wait that Left Bank Bordeaux usually requires. The careful maturation process has allowed the tannins to soften and the complex flavours to integrate beautifully. Rather than being a forgotten bottle, this represents proper cellar management that brings you mature Bordeaux at its drinking peak without the patience or storage costs typically required.

Bordeaux Supérieur designation requires stricter production standards including lower yields, higher minimum alcohol levels, and longer aging before release. This results in more concentrated, structured wines with greater aging potential than basic Bordeaux appellations. The Supérieur classification often represents exceptional value, offering Left Bank quality and complexity at more accessible prices than the famous classified growths.

The toast characteristics come from both oak aging and the natural evolution of the Cabernet blend during maturation. French oak barrels impart vanilla and spice notes that marry with the wine's natural fruit, while extended aging creates secondary flavours reminiscent of roasted nuts and brioche. This textural, savoury profile is classic mature Bordeaux, where primary fruit gives way to more complex, earthy nuances.

International wine competition medals, particularly from respected shows like Canada's, demonstrate that this wine competed successfully against global peers in blind tastings. Combined with the 4.1 Vivino rating from consumer reviews, it shows both professional recognition and broad appeal. These accolades are especially meaningful for Bordeaux, where quality standards are exceptionally high and competition fierce.

Serve at 16-18°C and decant for 30-60 minutes to allow the mature wine to open fully and showcase its textural, savoury character. The medium body makes it versatile for food pairing - excellent with roasted meats, aged cheeses, or mushroom dishes. As a professionally aged wine, it's drinking beautifully now but could continue developing for another 3-5 years if properly stored.
