The B.S.V shiraz is a single vineyard expression of all of this history, representing quality through and through. McLaren Vale is renowned for its Shiraz – the region’s unique terroir imparts a depth and richness that's hard to beat. The 2021 vintage is particularly exciting. It was a year of balance and finesse, with perfect growing conditions that allowed the Shiraz to develop intense flavors while maintaining elegance. This single vineyard Shiraz, sourced from a meticulously cared-for plot, will likely offer a symphony of flavors – from ripe, juicy blackberries and plums to rich layers of chocolate, coffee, and a hint of pepper.

Wine Orbit

Gracefully rich and complex, the wine shows blackberry, dark cherry, star anise, olive and cedar characters on the nose. The palate delivers excellent concentration, together with supple texture and fine, grainy tannins, making it robust and persistent. The wine combined opulence with sophistication, offering gorgeous drinking. At its best: now to 2039.

Frequently Asked Questions

This B.S.V Shiraz represents the unique heritage of Australia's only family-owned, fully operational urban winery in Adelaide. Being single vineyard and estate grown means every grape comes from one meticulously managed plot, allowing for exceptional quality control and terroir expression. The 95-point Wine Orbit rating reflects how this wine captures McLaren Vale's renowned ability to produce Shiraz with both power and elegance, something that mass-produced regional blends simply cannot achieve.

The 2021 vintage is considered a 'killer vintage' due to perfect growing conditions that created ideal balance between intensity and finesse. This was a year where McLaren Vale's Mediterranean climate delivered consistent ripening without excessive heat stress, allowing the Shiraz to develop complex flavours while retaining natural acidity. Such balanced vintages are relatively rare and tend to produce wines that age gracefully, making this bottle both enjoyable now and a worthy cellar candidate.

The rich blackberry and cocoa notes, combined with the wine's full-bodied structure, make it perfect for robust dishes that can match its intensity. Think slow-cooked lamb with rosemary, aged beef steaks, or even dark chocolate desserts that will complement the wine's natural cocoa undertones. The violet aromatics also pair beautifully with game meats and strong cheeses, while the wine's balanced tannins won't overpower dishes with earthy mushroom or truffle elements.

Patritti Wines holds a unique position as the sole surviving family-owned urban winery operating in Adelaide, making them living custodians of South Australian winemaking tradition. Their location in the heart of Adelaide's wine trade district connects them directly to the historical roots of the industry, while their continuous family operation spans generations of winemaking knowledge. This historical significance, combined with their Five Star Halliday rating, demonstrates how traditional methods can still produce world-class wines in the modern era.

Store this bottle on its side in a cool, dark place around 12-15°C to preserve its complex flavour profile and allow proper aging. Serve at 16-18°C to fully appreciate the blackberry and cocoa notes - too warm and the alcohol will dominate, too cool and you'll miss the aromatic violet characteristics. Decanting for 30-60 minutes before serving will help this full-bodied wine open up, allowing the tannins to soften and the layered flavours to integrate beautifully.
