This is serious Shiraz, Mofo. The legendary Rosenvale winery was established all the way back in 1850’s, and generations of the Rosenzweig family have since tended to Barossa vineyards. They know what they're doing by now, making fantastic shiraz like this is child's play to these folk.

Why do we love this wine?

James Rosenzweig is now the 6th generation to take care of vines in Barossa, and has earned himself the neat ol’ title of a Baron of Barossa for his dedication to the region’s industry. His ability to tend to A Grade vineyards and make high calibre wines is an immense skill. This single vineyard shiraz from the Stockwell Rise parcel is all about outstanding fruit quality: fresh blackberries and plums intertwined with cherry ripe complexities. The tannins are decadent, making every sip as fulfilling as the last. What a ripper wine, it's quite unbelievable that we can offer it to you at this price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This single vineyard Shiraz comes from the prestigious Stockwell Rise parcel in Barossa, crafted by James Rosenzweig, a 6th generation winemaker and Baron of Barossa. The designation recognises his exceptional contribution to the region's wine industry. Single vineyard wines like this showcase the unique terroir characteristics of one specific site, resulting in more concentrated flavours and distinctive personality compared to blended regional wines.

Serve this wine at 16-18°C to allow the rich blackberry, plum and cherry ripe complexities to fully express themselves. Decant for 30-60 minutes before serving to soften the decadent tannins and enhance the cedar and cocoa notes. The full-bodied structure makes it perfect for pairing with grilled red meats, aged cheeses, or hearty stews that can match its intensity.

A 97-point rating from Wine Orbit places this Shiraz in the 'outstanding' category, indicating exceptional quality that rivals wines costing significantly more. Wine Orbit's 5-star rating system and their recognition of this as a single vineyard wine highlights both the fruit quality and winemaking skill. Such high scores typically indicate a wine with excellent aging potential and complexity that will develop beautifully over the next 8-12 years.

The 2022 vintage in Barossa produced wines with excellent fruit concentration and balanced acidity, making it an outstanding year for Shiraz. Combined with James Rosenzweig's A-grade vineyard management and sixth-generation expertise, this wine delivers premium quality at an accessible price point. The single vineyard designation and 97-point rating would typically command much higher prices from established Barossa estates.

The wine's blackberry and plum fruit characters, enhanced by cedar and cocoa notes, pair beautifully with char-grilled lamb, beef brisket, or venison. The decadent tannins can handle rich, fatty meats while the cherry ripe complexities complement dishes with subtle sweetness like glazed pork or barbecue ribs. For cheese pairings, try aged cheddar or blue cheese to complement the wine's full-bodied structure and spice elements.
