Why do we love this wine?

This single-vineyard site sits on the north-facing slopes of Coldstream, Yarra Valley, with 80% whole berries and 20% whole bunches, there's something exhilarating about this wine... A gorgeous bright ruby and crushed raspberry colour in the glass. Little flecks of blue and purple weave throughout. There is a crushed fruit aroma of raspberries and strawberries which feels very lively and close to the source. Energy and zeal in the glass. Plush and vibrant with well-integrated oak and a structure that will allow for aging, should the cellar beckon. This is brilliant small batch production from a certified Yarra icon - Warramunda.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine showcases the unique terroir of Coldstream's north-facing slopes through meticulous winemaking that combines 80% whole berries with 20% whole bunches. This technique preserves the fruit's natural vibrancy while adding structural complexity that's rare in lighter-bodied Pinots. The north-facing aspect provides optimal sun exposure, creating the distinctive bright ruby colour and concentrated raspberry flavours that define premium Yarra Valley Pinot Noir.

Despite being light-bodied, this wine has excellent aging potential thanks to its well-integrated oak and structured tannins from the whole bunch fermentation. Quality Yarra Valley Pinot Noirs like this typically develop beautifully over 5-8 years, evolving from bright fruit flavours to more complex earthy and spice notes. The 95-point Wine Orbit rating suggests this has the balance and concentration to reward patient cellaring.

The wine's elegant, lighter profile with strawberry and earthy notes makes it incredibly food-friendly. Classic pairings include roasted duck, salmon, or mushroom risotto, where the wine's acidity cuts through richness without overwhelming delicate flavours. The spice elements also complement herb-crusted lamb or aged cheeses, while the bright fruit character pairs beautifully with charcuterie and cherry-based sauces.

Warramunda Estate has earned its reputation through consistent quality and their deep understanding of Coldstream's unique microclimate. Their Five Stars Halliday rating reflects decades of excellence in crafting site-specific wines that truly express their vineyard's character. The estate's commitment to small-batch production allows for meticulous attention to detail, resulting in wines like this that showcase why the Yarra Valley is considered Australia's premier cool-climate region.

The 20% whole bunch component adds structural complexity and subtle spice notes that complement the pure fruit expression from the whole berries. This traditional Burgundian technique introduces gentle tannins and creates a more complex flavour profile, contributing to the wine's aging potential. The stems also provide natural acidity and contribute to the wine's elegant mouthfeel, creating the perfect balance between immediate drinkability and long-term cellaring potential.
