Why do we love this wine?

One of our favourite rieslings from one of our favourite Clare producers. This spills over with citrusy goodness, both juicy and zesty. It's spent plenty of time on lees (over two months!), so this isn't some thin little number, but rather a textural wine that sits on the medium to full-bodied side of the riesling spectrum. And just like all good Clare riesling, it's ready to go today or will reward patience to the tune of a decade. Your wine! You choose how and when to drink it. We'll do the same with our case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Despite being classified as light-bodied, this Riesling spent over two months on lees, which adds significant texture and body. This extended lees contact creates a wine that sits on the medium to full-bodied side of the Riesling spectrum, giving it more weight and complexity than many examples that are rushed to market. The technique builds mouthfeel while preserving the variety's characteristic freshness.

Clare Valley Rieslings are renowned for their exceptional ageing potential, and this 2024 can reward patience for up to a decade. As it ages, the citrusy freshness will evolve into more complex honeyed and petrol notes, while the minerality becomes more pronounced. The wine's structure from extended lees contact provides the backbone needed for long-term cellaring, though it's equally delicious now.

The citrusy, mineral-driven profile with textural weight makes this versatile for both light and substantial dishes. Try it with fresh seafood, Asian cuisine with moderate spice, or creamy goat's cheese where the acidity cuts through richness. The wine's body can handle roasted chicken or pork, while its zesty character complements dishes with lime or lemon-based sauces.

The 96 points from Wine Orbit reflects the exceptional quality achieved through careful winemaking and Clare Valley's ideal Riesling terroir. The single vineyard designation indicates fruit sourced from one specific site, allowing for greater expression of place and consistency. High-scoring Rieslings typically demonstrate perfect balance between acidity, fruit intensity, and mineral complexity - qualities this wine clearly exhibits.

Jeanneret has built a reputation for crafting Rieslings that showcase Clare Valley's unique terroir while employing thoughtful winemaking techniques like extended lees contact. Their approach balances traditional Clare Valley characteristics - bright acidity and mineral backbone - with modern techniques that add texture and complexity. This combination creates wines that appeal to both immediate enjoyment and long-term cellaring enthusiasts.
