Why do we love this wine?

This classic Italian grigio delivers in spades. Let us take you all the way to Veneto without even having to leave your backyard. The crunchy, bright palate and commanding citrus-driven profile demands a light dish of grilled white fish or maybe some green olives. We recommend enjoying a glass or two in your sun drenched garden at around about 4pm. With low sulphites throughout the winemaking process, organically grown fruit and a DOC classification to boot, Savian has been kicking wine goals for decades.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Savian Pinot Grigio stands apart through its organic farming practices and low-sulphite winemaking approach, which preserves the grape's natural character. The DOC classification ensures it meets strict Italian quality standards, while the producer's decades of experience in Friuli-Venezia Giulia results in a wine that authentically represents this renowned region's terroir. Unlike industrial productions, this wine showcases the bright, mineral-driven profile that makes Italian Pinot Grigio so distinctive.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located in northeastern Italy near the Slovenian border, is considered one of Italy's premier white wine regions due to its unique Alpine-influenced climate and diverse soils. The cool nights and warm days create ideal conditions for Pinot Grigio to develop its characteristic crisp acidity while retaining delicate fruit flavours. This region's winemaking tradition, combined with modern organic techniques, produces wines with exceptional clarity and mineral complexity that reflect the local terroir.

While grilled white fish is classic, this wine's bright acidity and elderflower notes make it excellent with fresh goat cheese salads, prosciutto and melon, or Asian dishes like Vietnamese spring rolls. The lemon zest character complements shellfish beautifully, particularly prawns or scallops, while the pear undertones pair wonderfully with light pasta dishes featuring herbs or vegetables. Its crisp profile also cuts through creamy risottos without overwhelming delicate flavours.

Serve this Pinot Grigio well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its refreshing qualities and preserve the delicate aromatics. Store bottles on their side in a cool, dark place away from temperature fluctuations - a wine fridge or cool cellar is ideal. As a young, fresh white wine, it's best consumed within 2-3 years of vintage to enjoy its vibrant fruit character and crisp acidity at their peak.

A 90-point rating places this wine in the 'outstanding' category, indicating exceptional quality that stands well above average examples of the style. This score suggests the wine demonstrates excellent balance, complexity, and authentic varietal character that impressed the tasters. The 'Mofo Fave' designation indicates it represents outstanding value and drinking pleasure, making it a reliable choice for both casual enjoyment and more discerning wine moments.
