There's nothing quite like a bestselling, single-vineyard, Yarra Valley chardonnay to get you through the cooler months. There's a catch, though (there's always a catch) - stocks are seriously limited.

Why do we love this wine?

A brilliant wine. Chardonnay that feels premium in every way. The weight. The length. The way it changes and evolves as it breathes a little. The sheer amount of complexity in every glass. We're decidedly in cooler fruits here; green apples, pears, green grapes, some grapefruit, plentiful citrus. That fruit is stretched across some tightly wound, nervy acidity that snakes it's way up the palate to eventually define the long, fantastic finish. This is a wine that will have you coming back for more and, on that front, I'm sorry to say we'll have to disappoint you, Mofo: this will sell out quick.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Warramunda Estate Chardonnay showcases a cooler climate expression that contrasts beautifully with Australia's traditionally richer, more tropical Chardonnay styles. The Yarra Valley's temperate conditions allow for extended ripening, developing complex green apple and citrus notes while maintaining crisp acidity. This results in a wine that balances full-bodied richness with elegant restraint, offering the best of both Old World finesse and New World fruit intensity.

Serve this Chardonnay slightly chilled at 10-12°C to highlight its complex aromatics and balanced acidity. The wine benefits from breathing time, so consider decanting or simply opening 30 minutes before serving to allow its layers to unfold. Its full-bodied nature and evolving character make it perfect for pairing with rich seafood dishes, roasted chicken, or creamy pasta - foods that complement rather than compete with its sophisticated profile.

The 2024 vintage represents exceptional winemaking timing, as this wine is already showing remarkable complexity despite its youth. Cool climate Chardonnays like this often need time to develop, but Warramunda has crafted a wine that's immediately impressive while promising even greater rewards with cellaring. The vintage's balance of fruit concentration and natural acidity suggests ideal growing conditions that allowed for both flavour development and structural integrity.

A 95-point rating from Wine Orbit places this Chardonnay in the 'outstanding' category, indicating exceptional quality that rivals premium wines from established regions worldwide. This score reflects the wine's complexity, balance, and aging potential - qualities that justify its position as a serious collector's piece. Combined with Warramunda's Five Star Halliday rating, this represents recognition from Australia's most respected wine critics for consistent excellence.

This Chardonnay offers the rare pleasure of being exceptional both now and with cellaring potential of 5-8 years. Currently, you'll enjoy its vibrant fruit and crisp acidity, but time will allow the wine to develop honeyed complexity and integrate its oak treatment further. The wine's tight structure and nervy acidity provide the backbone needed for graceful aging, where it will likely develop richer textures while maintaining its elegant citrus core.
