Why do we love this wine?

Passionfruit and pear are present for sure, but there is a vegetal, spiced layer, too. There's more complexity and layers on offer than you may find out of our Kiwi neighbours back yards. This is brilliantly compiled by one of the regions greatest winemakers, and from one of the regions great wine houses. Stock up, Mofo - this is your new favourite 'anytime' white.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine showcases the distinctive Margaret River terroir with its vegetal, spiced complexity that sets it apart from the more straightforward tropical fruit profiles typical of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The warmer Australian climate and unique soil composition create additional layers of flavour beyond the classic passionfruit and pear notes. Margaret River's maritime influence and longer growing season allow for more nuanced development of both fruit and herbaceous characteristics.

Wills Domain has established itself as one of Margaret River's most respected wineries through decades of consistent quality and innovation. The winery benefits from prime vineyard sites and the expertise of acclaimed winemakers who understand how to express the region's unique characteristics. Their reputation for crafting wines that truly reflect Margaret River's terroir has earned them recognition both domestically and internationally, making them a benchmark producer in the region.

The wine's bright acidity and tropical fruit flavours make it excellent with fresh seafood, particularly oysters, prawns, or grilled fish with citrus. The vegetal complexity also pairs beautifully with herb-crusted chicken, goat cheese salads, or Asian dishes with fresh herbs like Vietnamese spring rolls. Its light body and crisp finish make it perfect as an aperitif or with light summer fare like gazpacho or caprese salad.

Serve well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight the wine's crisp acidity and aromatic intensity. As a current vintage white wine, it's designed for immediate enjoyment while the fruit flavours are at their peak freshness. Store bottles on their side in a cool, dark place away from temperature fluctuations, and consume within 2-3 years to appreciate the vibrant passionfruit and lime characteristics at their best.

A 4.2 Vivino rating across all vintages indicates consistently high quality and broad consumer appeal, as this score represents feedback from thousands of wine drinkers worldwide. This rating suggests the wine delivers excellent value and reliable quality year after year, making it a safe choice for both casual drinkers and wine enthusiasts. The consistency of high ratings across vintages also reflects Wills Domain's winemaking expertise and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
